We are Patty and Jane, AKA “The Plant Pundits”, co-owners of Huckleberry Gardens. We’re thrilled to be part of the Burien community and to share our knowledge about cool plants for your garden.
Jane
Jane started out as an educator until plants took over her brain. She has over a decade of experience working at nurseries and has planted just about everything in her garden. Her knowledge is a vast crevasse going to the depths of unpronounceable botanical names and plant origins. Her laugh is wonderfully loud and her enthusiasm for plants contagious. And she’ll always be an educator!
Patty
Patty’s background is in the art world, first as a fine art photographer and later as an art consultant. In 2018 she started growing specialty cut flowers, selling to florists and making bouquets for local markets. She worked at several nurseries (where she met Jane) and fell fully in love with the wide variety of plants. Patty’s ramshackle garden is overflowing with flowers that she gives to friends and neighbors just because she still loves cut flowers the most!
Huckleberry Hound #1: Theo
Theo is a ausiedoodle and resident foodie. Happy to give free pet therapy for treats or scratches. His favorite food at the nursery is Japanese Forest Grass.
Huckleberry Hound #2: Kona
Kona is the elder hound and a furry friend who would never hurt a fly. Also works for scritches and treats (although allergic to chicken). You’ll often find Kona lounging out front in the sun - just honk if you want that parking spot!
